First identified by psychologist Taibi Kahler, Drivers are the coping mechanisms we adopt to feel "OK" in the eyes of others. Transactional Analysis posits that when we were children, we developed strategies to feel safe. As adults, these strategies turn into "drivers" which are deeply ingrained impulses that drive our behaviour whenever we feel stressed, tired, or overwhelmed.
Taking this questionnaire can help find out which is your primary driver.
